Dr. Renee Garcia obtained her medical degree at Loma Linda University, School of Medicine and completed general adult psychiatry residency at University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine. During her time at USC, she developed a passion for inpatient consultation-liaison work prompting her to further subspecialize by pursuing and completing Stanford’s Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship. She transitioned to Stanford faculty with an academic focus in suicidality in the medically ill, agitation in acute care setting, assertive ER psychiatric management and ICU psychiatry with focus in delirium & post-ICU syndrome. In addition to her role as an assistant clinical professor at Stanford, she is also director of the Psychiatric consultation-liaison service at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, California and chair of Hoag’s Neurology & Psychiatry department. Dr. Garcia continues to contribute educationally here at Hoag by participating in nursing and physician continuing education symposiums.
